Victor
Head Teacher - Tui and Pukeko Room
Kia ora, whānau! Kumusta? My name is Victor Mayo. I am from the Philippines and I have been living here in New Zealand since 2016. I am a primary school-trained teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Education from the University of the Philippines.
I have been working with children since 2019. I am an avid fan of books and this spills over to who I am as a teacher. Literacy is an important tool in my practice and I believe in the power it carries to bring so much learning and joy. Outside of teaching, my hobbies include running and taking care of over 170 plants at home!
I am a part of the Kingdomcity whānau and you’ll see me during Sunday services right here at church.
My practice is underlined by my faith in Jesus and so at the core of what I do is the value of relationships. Building relationships is key to my practice as a kaiako. I believe in creating deep, meaningful connections with both tamariki and whānau as this will prove key in effective practice. Children deserve to learn in a space where they feel safe, acknowledged, supported and heard and, as a kaiako, it has always been my goal to create that space and to be that space.
I am so thrilled to be a part of the team at Kingdomcity Childcare and to work with you and your tamariki.
Lagi’t-lagi para sa bata! (Always and always, for the child!)
